3D printing material — Photosensitive resin
What materials are most commonly used for 3D printing? Probably the first material to pop out of the brain of anyone familiar with 3D printing is photosensitive resin. Photosensitive resin is a kind of 3D printing material, which is similar to ABS material, with smooth surface, high precision, spray-painting surface and hardness. Photosensitive resin is very suitable for printing handplate models, such as the model of appearance design, but also have special requirements in addition to appearance, such as high temperature resistance or toughness.
Photosensitive resins are formed using SLA/DLP technology, also known as photoluminescence, which USES ultraviolet light or other light beams to solidify a liquid photosensitive resin. Photosensitive resin, literally, is a resin material that is sensitive to light and rapidly solidifies when it is irradiated.
At a higher level, photosensitive resins are mixtures of photoinitiators, monomers and prepolymers that can be cured by focusing ultraviolet light at specific wavelengths. Compared with SLA, the items printed by DLP have smooth surface and high molding quality, so many DLP models are positioned as jewelry level. The characteristics and application of photosensitive resin are described in detail below.
Properties of photosensitive resins
Photosensitive resin is generally liquefied state, the use of this material to print objects generally have high strength, high temperature resistance, waterproof and other characteristics. However, photosensitive resin materials do not use for a long time easily lead to hardening.
The specific characteristics of photosensitive resin are as follows
1. Low viscosity;
2. Curing shrinkage;
3. Fast curing speed;
4. Small swelling;
5. High photosensitivity;
6. High curing degree;
7. High wet state strength.
In addition, the price of photosensitive materials is relatively expensive compared with tabletop PLA, and it is easy to cause waste due to the need to pour it into the vessel when using.
Application of photosensitive resin
The 3D printing of photosensitive resin material has good details and high surface quality, which can be colored by painting and other processes. But photosensitive resin printing items if long time exposure to light conditions, will gradually become brittle, yellow. This material is often used to print fine models and complex design models that require high precision and surface quality, such as handplates, handles, jewelry or precision assemblies. But not suitable for printing large model, if you want to print large, you need to print parts.
In addition to the high toughness, high temperature resistance and common photosensitive resins mentioned above, there are translucent and completely transparent photosensitive resins. However, it needs to be reminded that semi-transparent and fully transparent printing after the need for post-polishing, polishing can not be a little less transparent.
Photosensitive resin material not only good molding effect, and relatively cheap, so it has become the first choice of printing hand plate. As for whether it is feasible to make a sample for appearance and function verification before the product is launched, this proofing fee is very cost-effective. Compared with direct production without proofing, it can save a large part of money.
